Germany East goes GPL
The WWII was over and the citzien of Dessau searched for a track of racing. They found a place on the Autobahn between Berlin and Leipzig. The first race was in the year of 1949 with 160000 spectators on the track. The name of the track: Dessauer Rennstrecke.
One of the best driver's in the 50's was Paul Greifzu. He won AVUS, Halle-Saale-Schleife, Stadtparkrennen Leipzig, Schotten-Rennen, Autobahn-Spinne Dresden and Osthafenkurs. Also great positions at Eifelrennen, Sachsenring and Schauinsland.
The next race was at 10. May 1952 on the Dessauer Rennstrecke, but at this place he had a bad accident in the training to a F2-race. A crank-shaft was broken the engine stopped immediately and the car gone head over. Paul Greifzu was dead, a sad day for the German motorsports.
Today the Dessauer Rennstrecke is an important Autobahn between Berlin and Leipzig/Dresden.

INSTALLATION:
Unpack the downloaded zip-file into a temporary directory and run TrackInstall.exe. The TrackInstall.exe install the new track for Grand Prix Legends.

HISTORY:
The track started on the Autobahn in direction Leipzig, after 1 km a turn (Autobahnkehre) in the opposite side in direction Berlin. Behind the exit Dessau-Sued on the left side the pit. Now a left turn to a connecting passage through a forest, along a timber-yard, to a left turn (Jugendkurve) on a country road. Straight on through the Mosigkauer Heide. The next drive on the Autobahn back to start/finish.
The length was 5 km, the top speed in GPL about 180 mph.

Training: On Direct3D7 and OpenGL with 4 bit-cars all 36 fps, with 16 bit-cars average 34 fps
Race: On Direct3D7 with 4 bit-cars average 34 fps, min. 26 fps (Junction "Dessau-Sued"), max. 36 fps (many places)
-> On Direct3D7 with 16 bit-cars driving not possible - some places under 12 fps -
-> On OpenGL with 4 bit-cars average 35 fps, min. 30 fps (Junction "Dessau-Sued"), max. 36 fps (many places)
-> On OpenGL with 16 bit-cars average 34 fps, min. 27 fps (Junction "Dessau-Sued"), max. 36 fps (many places)

If you couldn't drive a race on this track and you have tested it under OpenGL, 3Dfx and Direct3D7 and also with the original 4 bit-cars, then it's time to use the light version.

INSTALLATION:
First of all make a copy of Dessau.3do and Dessau.trk.
Unpack the downloaded zip-file into your "Dessau"-folder and run GPL - that's it !!

CHANGES:
The lite version have the same graphic level as the full version. The different is the missing of displaying the opposite side of Autobahn.
